Appropriation: Yes You Can

We all know Andy Warhol’s soup can. Sadly there are many horrific appropriations of the famous silkscreen by the Pop artists. Here are 2 examples that are actually good.

Why? Because the street artists Banksy has appropriated it to make a statement about contemporary British culture. The agency Wieden + Kennedy have used the can which has become a symbol of American capitalist society through Warhol in order to make a new statement about American culture, just after the inauguration of President Obama in 2009.
